According to Billboard, Record Store Day 2010 was crazy successful. Many independent stores around the country reported their busiest day ever, and overall, the day was the single biggest day for vinyl sales since Soundscan started tracking in 1991!

The awesome infographic blog Information is Beautiful recently posted a rundown of how much money a musician makes online, selling different formats from CDs to Last.fm/Spotify plays. It ties in nicely with Side 1 of our film. Check it out if you’re at all interested in the economics of making money as a musician.

From August of last year: Pitchfork contributor Eric Harvey’s “The Social History of the MP3″. It’s a long read, but very worth it. Perhaps the most educated and reasoned breakdown on 21st century music we’ve seen.
